Here at Bretforton First School we pride ourselves on our varied work.
We love to display our work and enjoy exploring many different themes throughout the school.
Below you can see what
we have been learning about.
As part of our annual Multi-Cultural week, we spent the first week back after half term travelling around the world to find out about art in various different countries and cultures.
On Monday we visited The Netherlands and focused on the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh.

We were very lucky to have an actual visit from Vincent Van Gogh himself (Filbert Splosh - artist in residence) and we took it in turns to practice creating different pieces of art work that were based on Van Gogh's sunflowers picture.
Class 3 also looked at the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian and enjoyed creating their own grid patterns! On Tuesday, we visited the UK and Europe and each class studied a different artist. Class 3 enjoyed learning about the famous artist Sarah Morris, Class 2 looked at the artist Laurence Stephen Lowry and his images of Industrial scenes and stickmen and class 1 enjoyed learning about Paul Brown. On Wednesday, the children visited Australia and lots of us looked at Aboriginal art. On Thursday we visited the continent Asia and all classes decided to visit India. Class 2 enjoyed making some Mendhi patterns and repeated patterns based on their observations of Indian fabrics. Class 3 enjoyed making Rangoli patterns. At first we practiced making Rangoli patterns on paper and coloured them in using crayons and felt tip pens. Once everyone had made a pattern on paper, we were able to go outside and create a series of Rangoli patterns on the playground, using chalk, lentils and rice grains.
